Happy birthday to me!

Happy birthday to me! 🎂🎈
:::
I wish people would slow down and appreciate what they have. 🙏
:::
I wish words „respect”, „love” and „friendship” would actually mean something again. ❤
:::
I wish we all loved stronger, dreamed bigger and stood taller. 💪
:::
I wish we could all say „I took all the chances I had”. 😉
:::
I wish we would all believe in ourselves more. 🤗
:::
I wish we didn’t feel sad when it’s bad weather and we learned how to dance in the rain. ☔
:::
I wish we were more spontaneous. 🤪
:::
I wish we lived in a world that has a bright future for our grandchildren and they knew all animal species we have today. 🐨
:::
I wish we would all chip in and help the poor ones, that we’d be united. 💰
:::
I wish for the world full of happy people. 😊
:::
Please help me make some of it true and be nice to one another! 🤗

Failures

Many of you say that nobody is real on Instagram. That people tend to publish only photos from their happy momments and talk only about highlights from their lives.
This might be true but I am different. 😅
.
I already showed you a picture of me looking unattractive some time ago (remember that all those instagram models pose in their finest clothes and perfect make up), I already talked to you about my bad days (cause we all have them!) and now I’m gonna talk to you about my last failures.🤪
Because we all fail from time to time and it’s OK!
.
Failures are good because we get a great lesson and learn from mistakes but also we appreciate success more after couple obstacles! 🤗
.
One of my latest failures was that I was supposed to lose 5kg in July. It was my goal and I started July with a diet and working out routine. But then i got busy and stressed (in the contrary to most people – when I’m stressed i EAT!). And…instead of losing weight I gained 1kg 😅 It might be a small failure but it still is a failure to me.
.
Another one – I told you about a new project that I’ve been working on lately. I told you that I’ll tell you by the end of July if it worked or not. Well…it didn’t. I wanted to go back to University and start studying psychology but I didn’t get a scholarship and I can’t afford it. So no new University degree for me. At least not this year…
.
And now biggest of my latest failures. As some of you know I published a book in February 📕. I’ve been writing it 1.5 year, looking for a publishing house next 3 years…Whole process lasted over 7 years and you know what…? I sold only about 400 copies… Out of 5500 copies we printed… Hardly no one buys it…It’s been heart-breaking for me as I really wanted this to work and this book to be read by plenty people but this happens I guess. It’s sad but it’s ok. I need to move on. It was still a big adventure and a dream coming true for me. I had plenty interviews and signing meetings so it was fun!
.
So next time you fail remember to keep smilling! 😉 We all fail from time to time. The key is to learn your lesson and not to give up! 😊

Mother’s Day

When do you celebrate Mother’s Day? I know that most  countries had it on May 12th but we, in Poland, celebrate it today!
❤❤❤
And because of that I wanted to say how amazing it is to have a mother. And to be loved by mother. Sadly not everybody in the world is that lucky to have a mom or to have good relations with her. But if you do, please go and hug her, tell her that you love her, thank her for everything that she taught you.
❤❤❤
Being a mom is so difficult that it scares me. It is not only work 24/7 but a HUGE responsibility to create and shape a child into a smart, nice, well-mannered but also a warm-hearted, sensitive and couragous human-being.
❤❤❤
It is so tough and I am so grateful that my mom, my parents, made me who I am today 🙏
❤❤❤
Happy Mother’s Day!

Fate

HAPPY 1ST ANNIVERSARY TO US! ❤💑 (it was 3 days ago)
Do you believe in fate or coincidence?
😊😊
I believe that every day we learn something and every little moment creates our personality.
😊😊
I keep thinking how pretty random all my relationships are. E.g. I met my best friends via an online forum for fans of a rock band but I found out about this forum through a leaflet that was handed to me on a day when I wasn’t supposed to go out 😅
+ I got to know this band thanks to my good friend and I got to know this man that is a good friend of mine now by walking into a random pub years ago 🤷🏼‍♀️
.
I met my husband online and it turned out that he had been living in a flat that my friend used to live in just before him! Later it turned out that we have many mutual friends, even our families knew each other (my dad had known my husband’s uncle for years; my husband’s cousin was my cousin’s classmate etc etc) and it is actually weird that we haven’t met each other sooner.
😊😊😊
I believe in those signs. I believe that we were supposed to meet.
I believe that every small decision we make is important on how our life turns out. Something like in „Butterfly Effect” or „Mr Nobody” – love those movies!
😊😊😊
In 2013 I decided to move out to London. I bought a one-way ticket, packed my whole room and couple weeks later after I graduated University I moved. Just like that.
Then after over a year I decided to come back to Poland. It was quite spontaneous. Later I regretted that I came back but if I haven’t I wouldn’t publish my book, I wouldn’t meet my husband etc. But at the same time if I wouldn’t had moved out to London at all I wouldn’t have become more open, more curagous and wouldn’t have got lots of wisedom I got by living by myself in a foreign country.
🤷🏼‍♀️
This was supposed to happen and it created the person that I am today.
😊😊😊
I believe that every day and every person that we meet leaves a sign in ourselves.
😊😊😊
Do you agree? Tell me your story of a random choice you made that changed a lot in your life.

Inspirational Story

Time for another Inspirational Story. This story will show you how determination and persistance can work miracles. I know it’s long but please read it.

There was a girl. Let’s call her Ana.

In 2011 Ana started writing a book. She never wanted to be a writer but she had a lot to say and share about her outlook on the world and society nowadays so she built it in a story and made a book out of it. As soon as she finished writing it 1.5 year later she was really proud of it, it was a good book hence she wanted to have it published. She started looking for a publishing house, she took part in every writing contest she could find. But it was for nothing.

She took a break and got back to it 2 years later. She changed a bit in the plot as she didn’t like some parts anymore and tried again – contacted a bunch of publishing houses yet it was still for nothing. She decided to print the book herself. She had a graphic made for a cover, a professional helping correcting the text and a proper bindery to make it into a book. She spent all her savings to get 180 copies. What did she do next? Having the book printed she started sending it to…publishing houses. Again. At that time it was 2015 so already 4 years in the making.

She gained some interest from 3 publishing houses but it didn’t work out as they wanted her to put more money into it. She wanted to find a publishing house that will fall in love with her book and will invest in it. After that she took a break again, this time for half a year.

In 2016 she decided to try it different way. She did a research and found a lot of blogs that write books reviews. The book got plenty good reviews, some blogs gave it 5/6, some 8/10 and wrote articles about it trying to bring attention to publishing houses to take that book in and publish it. One chapter got even published in a national newspaper. But still nothing. Still no publishing house interested  in making it big.

Having lots of great reviews she decided to take it one step further and she reached out to well-known people in the industry. She managed to get in touch with a man who wrote dozens of books and was later a chairman of jury in the biggest literature awards in the country. He loved the book and wrote a great review. She got even an email from a famous director Krzysztof Zanussi („The Constant Factor”, „Life as a Fatal Sexually Transmitted Disease”, „The Supplement”) that he sees potential in her book to make it into a movie.

With those 2 reviews from 2 big names she tried again. She packed her book with those reviews as a Xmas present and sent it to over 30 pubslishing houses for Christmas 2016. A month later she started calling each company to see if they got it. She has been calling to all companies EVERY WEEK for a whole year asking if they read it, if they like it etc. In the meantime she kept looking for more publishing houses and got to 44 companies on her list. She kept calling them until she had a proper answer YES or NO. She did not accept answers like „We will read it and will get in touch with you if we like it”, no. She asked how much time they needed to read it and said that she’ll call again to ask for the opinion. She made over 200 calls asking about the book. It lasted whole 2017. She kept hearing „NO” over and over again but she did not give up. 37th answer was „YES”. In the beginning of 2018 she found a publishing house that fell in love with her book and wanted to make it big.

Let’s call her by her real name now. It was Pola Rewako. It was me. My book is being published on February 13th after 7 years of trying to make it happen. This is my secret project i’ve been telling you about. J

Also, I will not stop here. I want to make it into a movie and translate it into English by 2021.

Sad news for Gdansk

As some of you know, mayor of my hometown Gdansk got stabbed on stage during a charity event on Sunday and died yesterday.
It is very hard for me and plenty other Gdansk citizens.
He was a great mayor for over 20 years here and he will be very missed.
💔
[*]

When you’re sad close your eyes and think of a happy place. Try to see the colors there. If it’s a place filled with people try to see their faces, hear what they’re talking about. If your safe place is in nature without any people listen intently to the sounds around you. Do you hear the sea? Do you hear the wind?
What do you smell?

Try to go into this happy place for 5-10 minutes whenever you are sad or stresses. Always keep your eyes closed and take deep breaths.
This what you can see on the picture is my safe place, my happy place. My home. Top 3 windows (you can see tiny bit of them, the rest got cut off) is where I grew up and where my parents live ❤🙏
This is where I go to in my mind when I’m stressed.

What is your happy place?

About me

Introduction

Hi all!

My name is Pola and i want to teach you how to be happy. „Teach me? It’s not something you can teach, being happy depends on your life, your luck, health etc” you may think but you can’t be more wrong. Happiness is a STATE OF MIND! It is psychologically proven that whether you are happy or not depends only on yourself and the way you think! *Obviously i’m not a psychologist, please remember that this blog is based on my experience, knowledge from books and articles but i’m not a doctor! If you do have serious mental health issues such as depression please see a psychologist.

Life is not easy and probably each one of you know it already. I had mental health issues myself and was not happy but i learned to see world differently, life taught me to learn from failures and i started being happy. And this is what we’re gonna do here.

I have read quite a lot of books on psychology and how brain works (i would say psychology is my hobby but again, i’m not a doctor! J) and i want to share with you some of the tricks i’ve learned like how to change your mindset, how to work with your fears, how to be more confident, how to stress less, what makes you happy etc.

It’s not going to be just theory of course! I’ll be posting motivational quotes or stories, i’ll be writing about people who inspire me and who can motivate you to reach for happiness, there will be plenty positive movies/books recommendations here and plenty more! I want to show you some interesting places to have a nice day at, some funny ways to spend a day off, even recipes for comfort food! Basically sending positive vibes and trying to teach you how to be/stay happy!

This blog here will be for longer posts but main part will be at my Instagram page so follow me at @smileysociety !

I’ve got big ideas for this blog, i’ve been preparing content for couple months already and i can’t wait to post it all!
