Self-Love

Love yourself!

When looking for a husband/wife we tend to think ‘if I’m supposed to spend rest of my life with one person I need to find somebody that I really love’. 🤔
But you know what? There’s one person that you definitely need to and will spend the rest of your life with. Yourself 😉.
:::
We NEED TO love ourself cause we’re ‘stuck’ with ourself 😜 we need to accept the kind of person we are, we need to like, respect and love ourselves! 🙏❤
:::
Don’t like something about yourself? If you can – change it (e.g. try to lose weight if you think you’re too fat, learn something if you think you lack some skills) but if you can’t change it you NEED TO accept it 😉 I, for example, am too tall 😜 (I’m taller than my husband) but there’s nothing I can do about it 🤷‍♀️ so I just accepted it. It’s just who I am 😊.
Please love yourself 😊❤

SELF LOVE: Start your day well

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – the way you start your day has HUGE impact on the rest of your day! ⚠️ And it’s all up to you! If you wake up thinking „Ugh, it’s gonna be a tough day 😑” it is gonna be in fact a tough day 😉. If you get up from bed thinking how much you don’t feel like doing anything it will stay this way 😪 – you won’t feel like doing anything 🤷‍♀️. If you start the day with negative mindset the day won’t magically turn into a positive one 😉!
:::
And so if you want to practice self-love/self-care throughout the day you need to start the day with the right mindset 😉!
➡️ 1. Think positive thought – something positive (can be small!) about the upcoming day 🤗
:::
➡️ 2. Don’t think what you „HAVE TO” do that day. Think of it as an opportunity, as something you ‘GET TO’ do 😃
:::
➡️ 3. Write down positive affirmations for the day like „I can do it”, „I am enough”, „I am beautiful” etc 💪
:::
➡️ 4. Take care of your body – have a good nurtitous breakfast, take vitamins and stretch a bit 😋
:::
➡️ 5. Do something fun – dance to your favourite song 🎵, be goofy with your partner/kids 🤪 or anything else that will boost your energy and bring a smile on your face ☺️.
And now go conquer the world!

SELF LOVE: Let’s turn off your inner critic!

Tell me, when you look at yourself in the mirror do you see your advantages or your flaws first? 🤔
Don’t worry, we tend to listen to our inner critic and to focus on negativities, that’s normal because we inherited from our earliest evolutionary survival needs. But we can work on that and turn it into self-compassion! 🤗
:::
Kristin Neff, PhD, the world’s leading researcher of self-compassion, identifies 3 elements of self-compassion:
➡️ 1. Mindful awareness 🧐
Noticing the inner critic is the first step so if are aware of it and you see it as something negative and unfavourable to you, you’re on the good path to eliminate it 😊! Go easy and always be kind to yourself so if you notice that negative voice now and that you’ve been bad to yourself – don’t freak out! 😉 Don’t get angry with yourself for being angry with yourself 😜, don’t judge and don’t blame yourself. Just go slow, close that chapter and work on that change.
:::
➡️ 2. Practice kindness🙏
Talk to yourself as if you were talking to a friend (after all, you are your friend! ☺).
At The Center for Compassionate Leadership one of favorite practices to strengthen your self-kindness is called “Note to a Dear Friend” ✉ Whenever you face a problem practice this:
„Write a note as if you were comforting a loved one or a dear friend who was facing the same difficult situation you. Add two words to the top of the note: “Dear [your name].” Read the note out loud to yourself with loving kindness.”
😊

:::
➡️ 3. Recognize That You Aren’t Alone 😘
It is very important to remember that you’re not alone in all this! We all have inner critics we fight with! Everyone faces challenges and makes mistakes. Everyone has bad days 🤗
:::
Self-compassion is a skill that gets better and better the more you practice it. So start small and keep moving forward!

SELF LOVE: What is self-love exactly?

What is really self-love/self-care? 🤔
People use to think that self-care is just taking care of our body (and I may have pushed that thinking by sharing recipes for homemade cosmetics as self-love series and not talking about other ways of self-caring 😬).
:::
Self-care is not only taking care of your body and/or skincare. Self-care is also taking care…of our mind! Of our soul, of our self-cofindence, of feeling present, feeling important & needed.
For me, self-love is putting yourself first! 😎
:::
Self-love is standing up to somebody who expects something from you that you don’t want and saying ‘no’ 🚫
:::
Self-love is putting your needs first and not going to a party with your friends simply because you feel like staying home and having some me-time 💅.
:::
Self-love is suddenly taking a day off because you don’t feel well 🤧 even though your boss and/or co-workers count on you (which I did yesterday 😉).
:::
Self-love is not only putting your needs first but also feeling good about doing it! You’re doing it for yourself, you’re taking care of yourself, of your mental health, be proud! 😊
:::
So, do you practice other forms of self-care rather than just taking care of your body? Can you give an example of a situation when you put your needs first? 😊

SELF LOVE: Honey & cinnamon scrub

In winter our lips often get dry so it’s important to do lip scrubs from time to time! 😊
Today lets make honey & cinnamon scrub! 😀
You’ll need:
🔸️ 1/4 cup brown sugar (you can use regular sugar here or even salt but brown sugar is tastier!)
🔸️1 Tbsp. coconut oil (this can be substituted with any sort of oil such as almond, olive, etc.)
🔸️1 Tbsp. raw unfiltered honey (that pretend honey just won’t do)
🔸️1 tsp. cinnamon powder (you can even do ginger powder, nutmeg, or cloves.) …
:::
➡️ Combine ingredients in a small bowl using a wooden spoon, mix everything well.
➡️ Transfer to a small glass jar with a lid.
➡️ To use: Rub a small amount onto your lips in a circular motion for 1-2 minutes.
➡️ Rinse (or you could just lick it off if you really wanted too…😃) off with a wet washcloth and feel the difference!…

SELF LOVE: Cooling Cucumber Mask 🧖‍♀️

Ingredients:
🔸️ 1 large cucumber 🥒
🔸️ 2 TBSP Unrefined Coconut Oil 🥥
🔸️ 1/4 cup Aloe Vera Gel
🔸️ 8 drops of Carrot Seed Essential Oil (optional)
:::
➡️ Blend all ingredients together until all ingredients form a smooth cream.  ➡️ Transfer to ice cube tray and freeze.  You might hold a bit back and pop it in the fridge so you can use your mask now!
➡️ Apply all around the eyes.  Leave on for 10-15 minutes.
It feels HEAVENLY! 😍 So refreshing-you can just feel the puffiness disappearing!  If you are using the Carrot Seed oil be very careful-if it gets in your eyes it will burn 😬. If the oil gets in your eyes, rinse out your eye with cool water immediately.

SELF LOVE: Homemade Natural Face Powder 🧖‍♀️

Homemade natural face powder is the easiest makeup to make! Just three ingredients and suddenly you’ve made your own face powder for practically pennies! 😃
:::
➡️ Arrowroot Powder
This is the safer version of cornstarch. Not that cornstarch is horribly unsafe but it can pose allergy issues and is often made from GMO’s, thus I prefer to use arrowroot over cornstarch but the two are interchangeable.
➡️ Cocoa Powder
Not only does cocoa powder act as the main coloring ingredient in this DIY but it’s also beneficial for your skin! 😃Cocoa powder contains antioxidants which helps heal and repair any skin damage.
➡️ Cinnamon
This spice does provide a tiny bit of coloring but it is also helpful for acne.
:::
Light Powder
🔸️ 2 Tbs. arrowroot powder
🔸️ 1/2 tsp. cocoa powder
🔸️ 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
:::
Medium Powder
🔸️ 2 Tbs. arrowroot powder
🔸️ 1 1/2 tsp. cocoa powder
🔸️ 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
:::
Dark Powder
🔸️ 2 Tbs. arrowroot powder
🔸️ 1 Tbs. cocoa powder
🔸️ 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
:::
➡️ Place ingredients into a bowl.
➡️ Mix well, use the back of a spoon to break up any cocoa powder clumps.
➡️ Start out with the shade closest to your skin tone but to get a perfect match you may need to add more cocoa powder or cinnamon.
➡️ Transfer to a clean jar or old compact container.
:::
To use:
Lightly apply to a makeup brush and apply as you would normally 😃. Go lightly however, as this is a loose powder and you do not need much.
