Motivational Mondays

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY – STEP 4: Your strenghts and weaknesses

We’ve already talked about common reasons of lack of motivation, we’ve learned how to set a goal and a deadline, now we need to get to know ourselves better in order to work better later on! 😉
:::
In order to make yourself work/boost your motivation and will to get something done we need to establish what are your strenghts and weaknesses!
Tell me:
* what are you good at? 🤔
* what comes easy for you? 😉
* what do you feel powerful/strong at? 💪
* what do others appreciate in you? 🧐
:::
Now think deep and name your weaknesses. It is important to know what we need to battle with and how to set your ‘Plan B’ for situations when you don’t feel the desire to follow your dreams.
So tell me:
* what do you struggle with? 🤔
* what kind of situations scare / overcome you? 😬
* what part of your character can become an obstacle in reaching your goal? 😶
* what weaknesses would your close ones name in you? 🤔
:::
Write all of it down!
I promise you we will work on some excercises to boost your motivation soon but those steps before it are crucial in order to know what we actually need to work on!

Confession

I’ve got a confession for you 😶.
Last couple of months I’ve been using less and less of Instagram 😏. I mean I have been posting, have been sharing some stuff on my stories but the truth is I haven’t been scrolling that much through feed and I haven’t been reading other people’s post and checking out their photos 😬.
:::
Why? It made me feed bad 😪.
I used to get motivation from other accounts 🤩. I used to love to scroll through Instagram to see others succeed and to get new energy from them 🤗. I used to tell you to do the same. To look at other people succeeding as a motivation for you.
:::
But lately as I’ve been struggling with lack of energy and motivation after battling with Covid and very stressful months 😥, I didn’t want to see others succeed when I couldn’t 💔, I didn’t want to see beautiful girls posing on beautiful pictures while I not only couldn’t take any nice pictures but also put on weight last couple of months 🙈, I couldn’t see other accounts grow when I’ve been losing followers 😬. I just shut it all down and haven’t been scrolling Instagram…until last weekend.
:::
Now what you can learn from this? 🤔 First of all, if something or someone makes you feel bad put it aside, push them away and detach from negative emotions 🚫. Either temporarily like I did or permanently if that’s what you need.
:::
But secondly, and even more importantly, remember that there always will be people more successful than us 😅, more attractive than ourselves, wiser, more experienced…and that’s ok 😉. We should learn from those people and just focus on ourselves and try to be best version of you 🤗
Always.

Smiley Future

Smiley Future – Step 55

Admit it, how many times during a weekend you think of Monday and you feel scared and angry already? 🤬 Got you! 😉 In the next few steps we’ll practice empowering your attitude that can improve quality of your life and increase your happiness 🤩.
:::
And that attitude is gratitude so feeling satisfied and appreciating what you’ve got (or not), what surrounds you and what you experience 🤗.
:::
Human tendency to notice negatives 👀 and danger 💥 can be explained by evolution – this perceptivity saved our ancestors plenty times yet complaining is something more 🙄.
:::
Constant complaining is a habit. Good news is that – as every habit – you can work on it and habit of complaining can be replaced with gratitude 😉.
:::
You’re probably wondering what it has to do with strong will and perseverance? 🤔
Practicing gratitude:
🔅Lowers stress (and that empowers willpower, remember?) 📉
🔅 Lowers tension, levels excessive expectations and frustration (that can lead to total giving up on your goal at first obstacle) 🙏
🔅 Helps noticing small successes and strong points that empowers motivation and perseverance 🎯
:::
As Robert Emmons and Robin Stern say „Clinical trials show that practicing gratitude can have dramatic and lasting positive effects on a person’s life. It can reduce blood pressure, improve immunity, promote happiness and life satisfaction, generate behaviors such as helping others, generosity and cooperation. Additionally, gratitude reduces the risk of depression, anxiety and addiction” 🤩
:::
Have I convinced you? Let’s start our today’s task 😉:
➡️ How often do you feel gratitude?
➡️ What are you grateful for?
➡️ Is feeling grateful dificult or easy for you?
:::
Next week: Practicing gratitude – excercise 🙏

5 Ways How to be More Creative

➡️ 1.  Get tired physically 💪
Not only it is scientifically proven that we’re more creative when we’re tired 😴 but a research has also shown that physical exercise helps to force you to adopt a more creative mindset using the right half of the brain 🧠. Exercise also increases blood flow and oxygen to the brain, which sharpen mental clarity.
:::
➡️ 2. Embrace boredom 😳
Try putting social media, TV and all devices away. Get bored on purpose 🙄. Just lay down and let your mind wander 😍. A research shows that being bored actually propels us towards deeper thinking and creativity 🤯. The theory goes that a bored mind searches for stimulation, which moves it into the daydreaming state, which leads to new ideas 😎.
:::
➡️ 3. Watch a TED talk or listen to a podcast 🎙
Nothing makes me more creative than being motivated by seeing others succeed! 🤩 And where to find that motivation, listen to successful people talk? Try any TED talk and you will be amazed! 😉
:::
➡️ 4. Generate way more ideas than you think you actually need ☺
People who are able to generate a lot of ideas (good and not-so-good) are much more likely to have a couple of brilliant ideas hidden in the mix than those who only come up with a couple of ideas to begin with 👍. Block out time for free writing and come up with as many ideas around a problem as your brain can generate, even if they seem silly. As Thomas Edison said, “Genius is one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.”
:::
5. Make time to play 🎪
Studies show that when we fully immerse ourself in just doing what we enjoy — in other words, getting out of our own heads — it stimulates outside-the-box thinking and silences our inner critic 😊. Tinker with toys, build something, get outside… and most importantly, think like a kid! 😀

Social media clean up

How do you feel scrolling instagram or facebook? 🤔 Are you smilling seeing photos of others, do you feel inspired reading their posts, are you motivated hearing about their successes? 🤗
:::
Make sure you follow people you feel good about ⚠️. If there’s any account you follow that makes you feel bad about yourself, that makes you feel worse 👎, unloved 💔, unsuccessful, unattractive or any other negative emotion – unfollow now!!! ❌
:::
Just like you wouldn’t talk to a person you don’t like or that makes you feel bad, don’t do it online either! 😉 Surround yourself with positive people only, with people that inspire you, motivate you, that send positive vibes only! 🤗
:::
I love scrolling instagram and seeing people I follow succed, it makes me feel motivated! 🤩

Inspirational Story

Time for another Inspirational Story. This story will show you how determination and persistance can work miracles. I know it’s long but please read it.

There was a girl. Let’s call her Ana.

In 2011 Ana started writing a book. She never wanted to be a writer but she had a lot to say and share about her outlook on the world and society nowadays so she built it in a story and made a book out of it. As soon as she finished writing it 1.5 year later she was really proud of it, it was a good book hence she wanted to have it published. She started looking for a publishing house, she took part in every writing contest she could find. But it was for nothing.

She took a break and got back to it 2 years later. She changed a bit in the plot as she didn’t like some parts anymore and tried again – contacted a bunch of publishing houses yet it was still for nothing. She decided to print the book herself. She had a graphic made for a cover, a professional helping correcting the text and a proper bindery to make it into a book. She spent all her savings to get 180 copies. What did she do next? Having the book printed she started sending it to…publishing houses. Again. At that time it was 2015 so already 4 years in the making.

She gained some interest from 3 publishing houses but it didn’t work out as they wanted her to put more money into it. She wanted to find a publishing house that will fall in love with her book and will invest in it. After that she took a break again, this time for half a year.

In 2016 she decided to try it different way. She did a research and found a lot of blogs that write books reviews. The book got plenty good reviews, some blogs gave it 5/6, some 8/10 and wrote articles about it trying to bring attention to publishing houses to take that book in and publish it. One chapter got even published in a national newspaper. But still nothing. Still no publishing house interested  in making it big.

Having lots of great reviews she decided to take it one step further and she reached out to well-known people in the industry. She managed to get in touch with a man who wrote dozens of books and was later a chairman of jury in the biggest literature awards in the country. He loved the book and wrote a great review. She got even an email from a famous director Krzysztof Zanussi („The Constant Factor”, „Life as a Fatal Sexually Transmitted Disease”, „The Supplement”) that he sees potential in her book to make it into a movie.

With those 2 reviews from 2 big names she tried again. She packed her book with those reviews as a Xmas present and sent it to over 30 pubslishing houses for Christmas 2016. A month later she started calling each company to see if they got it. She has been calling to all companies EVERY WEEK for a whole year asking if they read it, if they like it etc. In the meantime she kept looking for more publishing houses and got to 44 companies on her list. She kept calling them until she had a proper answer YES or NO. She did not accept answers like „We will read it and will get in touch with you if we like it”, no. She asked how much time they needed to read it and said that she’ll call again to ask for the opinion. She made over 200 calls asking about the book. It lasted whole 2017. She kept hearing „NO” over and over again but she did not give up. 37th answer was „YES”. In the beginning of 2018 she found a publishing house that fell in love with her book and wanted to make it big.

Let’s call her by her real name now. It was Pola Rewako. It was me. My book is being published on February 13th after 7 years of trying to make it happen. This is my secret project i’ve been telling you about. J

Also, I will not stop here. I want to make it into a movie and translate it into English by 2021.
