SELF LOVE: Basil & Aloe Vera Face Mask 🧖‍♀️

This Mask Is Great For:
🔸️Killing germs
🔸️Preventing breakouts
🔸️ Moisturizing
🔸️ Toning tired skin
:::
Ingredients:
🔸️Aloe vera gel
🔸️Basil 🍃
🔸️Indian lilac (optional)
:::
Recipe:
➡️For this recipe, you need to grind a handful of basil and a handful of lilac before mixing. If you can buy the leaves pre-ground, that would be great. The easiest way to do it yourself is to use a mortar and pestle. If you don’t have those tools, place the leaves on the palm of your hand, and press and rub with your thumb using twisting motions. This helps to release the essential oils inside the leaves.
➡️Place the ground leaves in a mixing bowl and a 1 tablespoon of water.
➡️Stir until the water is gone.
➡️Pour in 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel.
➡️Mix until the gel covers all the leaf matter.
:::
How To Apply:
➡️Start by washing your face and neck with warm water and an oil-free cleanser to remove makeup and open pores.
➡️Spread the aloe vera gel, leaves and all, onto the skin of your face, neck, and décolleté.
➡️Let the mask dry for fifteen minutes. Keep an eye on your surroundings as the leaves may have a tendency to fall your face as the aloe dries.
➡️Rinse your face, first with lukewarm water, and then with cool water to tighten pores.
➡️Dry your skin with a soft towel 😀

SELF LOVE: DIY Bath Bombs

Try bringing some relaxation into your home and create a spa-like experience 😍! Time to make DIY Bath Bombs 💥
:::
Ingredients (for 4 balls):
🔸️100g bicarbonate of soda
🔸️50g citric acid
🔸️25g cornflour
🔸️25g Epsom salt (optional)
🔸️2 tbsp oil – such as sunflower, coconut or olive oil
🔸️¼ tsp essential oil, such as orange, lavender or chamomile
🔸️a few drops of liquid food colouring
🔸️orange peel, lavender or rose petals, to decorate (optional) 🍊
:::
Method
➡️ Put the bicarbonate of soda, citric acid, cornflour and Epsom salt in a bowl, then whisk until fully combined 😁
➡️ Pour the base oil, essential oil and food colouring in a small bowl. Mix together well, combining the oil with the colouring as much as possible.
➡️ Very slowly add the oil mixture into the dry ingredients a little at a time, whisking between each addition.
➡️ When all the oil is added, add a few tiny drops of water and whisk again (it will fizz when you add the water, so mix it in quickly). You’re looking for the mixture to slightly clump together when pressed in your hand and keep its shape – it shouldn’t be too wet.
➡️ If you’re adding peel or flower petals to decorate, drop them into the bottom of your chosen mould*. Pack your mixture tightly on top, pressing down and smoothing out the top with a teaspoon.
➡️ Leave your bath bomb in the mould* to dry for 2-4 hrs, then carefully remove it. It’s now ready to drop into the bath – watch it fizz away!
:::
*What can I use as a bath bomb mould? 🤔
You can use anything flexible as a mould for your bath bombs, so have fun looking around your home for things you could use. Here are some ideas to get you started:
🔸️Yogurt or pudding pots
🔸️Christmas tree decorations (we used a star)
🔸️Plastic packaging from toys
🔸️Easter egg packaging
🔸️Silicone ice cube trays
🔸️Silicone cupcake cases
🔸️Plastic biscuit cutters (place them on a tray)

SELF LOVE: DIY Charcoal Peel-Off Mask

Have you seen those peel-off charcoal masks online? 🧖‍♀️ They’re fun to watch, but you don’t need to buy one 😉 You can make your own DIY Charcoal Peel-Off Mask with just 4 ingredients.
:::
Servings: 1 use
Ingredients
🔸️1 capsule activated charcoal (about 1/4 to 1/3 tsp)
🔸️1/4 tsp bentonite clay
🔸️1 tsp non-flavored gelatin
🔸️2 drops tea tree essential oil
🔸️2 tsp boiling hot water
:::
Instructions
➡️ Remove make up and use a gentle cleanser to clean the face. Pat dry.
➡️ Open the activated charcoal capsule and add the contents to a small glass or ceramic bowl. Discard the empty capsule.
➡️ First, add bentonite clay and gelatin. Then add boiling water and mix well with a mini silicone spatula (avoid metal spoons as the metal may weaken the health properties of the bentonite clay). The gelatin will thicken up the mask. Add 1 drop tea tree oil and mix again.
➡️ Use a mask brush to apply a layer of the mask to the skin, avoiding eye brows and be careful not to get too close the eyes.
➡️ Apply mask rather quickly as the mask will continue to thicken up. If the mask in the bowl dries up sooner than you get to apply the mask, add a 1/2 to 1 tsp of boiling hot water again to make the mask liquid again to apply.
:::
Once you have a thick layer of the mask on the skin, allow to dry about 20-30 minutes. You may need to wait longer depending on the thickness of the mask. You will feel a slight tingling sensation from the bentonite clay and tea tree oil, both help to remove impurities from the skin 😶
:::
Once the mask is dry, start on an edge (chin or forehead) and slowly peel off the mask until it’s completely gone. You can use a warm washcloth to remove any remaining mask on the face.
:::
Apply a toner and then follow with a moisturizer to keep the skin nourished 😍
