MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY – STEP 1: What is motivation?

Time for new series! For next several weeks every Monday I’ll be uploading a post about motivation – what it is, how to gain it, how to keep it, some tips etc.

Here’s step 1 – what motivation actually is


Motivation is the process that initiates and guides goal-oriented behaviors. It is what causes you to act 😉.

Motivation devides into 2 types:
➡️ Extrinsic motivations – motivators that come from outside, could be some contests, awards etc but also social status or praise
➡️ Intrinsic motivations – motivators that come from within the individual, pure desire to self-evolve, to learn new things to be better just for you/for your health

Understanding how motivation actually works will help you improve the efficiency of your work, help you take action, help you feel in control and will improve your overall  well-being and happiness 💪.

There are three major components of motivation: activation, persistence and intensity.
 🔸️ Activation is about action, e.g. a decision to initiate some behavior, such as taking up new hobby, taking some class to learn a new skill
  🔸️Persistence is about keeping the initial desire to achieve/get something, it is moving constantly forward towards your goal even through obstacles.
 🔸️ Intensity is basically how hard you want to reach a goal, it is about your focus on it and vigor that goes into pursuing a dream.� For example, lets say that two people want to learn a new language. One will take couple classes until he/she knows the basics while another one is really focused on those classes but also does some extracurricular things like watching movies in this language to practice understanding it in hearing, reads some books in the foreign language, takes some quizes online etc. First person lacks the intensity ☺.

In the next couple of weeks we’ll learn more about how motivation works, how to boost each type and component of it and how to be more motivated and eager to work on your goal 😎.

Today we’re gonna continue summing everything up ✔. I highly encourage you to reflect on what subjects were most important to you, what did you discover about yourself? 🧐 To make it easier here’s a list of the subjects we went through:

Smiley Future – Step 67

Time for summing up 🤩. It is a very important moment, in which you should pay full attention. Why? 🤔 Because every path leading to a long-term goal is about learning something new 🤗. You find out plenty new things about yourself, you have a change to draw conclusions from your strong and weak points, successes, mistakes and failures.

Let’s start summing up with analyzing success and strong points. Answer those questions:
➡️ What have you acomplished during this challenge?
➡️ What new habits, tools or knowledge have you started using in practice?
➡️ What have you managed to do?
➡️ How close did you get to reaching goal? Where were you in the begging of this challenge and where are you now?
➡️ What advantages and strong points do you notice now, from time perspective? Maybe you’ve managed to discover or appreciate more some of your resources (internal or external) that you haven’t seen before?

Second part of summing up is about mistakes, failures and mishaps that have come along the way and thank to which you can learn new things about yourself 😉. Remember to avoid excessive self-criticism and blaming yourself. You’re doing this summing up in order to uses this experience and learn from it 👍. Be good to yourself and understanding. Remember: the only person who doesn’t make mistakes is a person who doesn’t do anything at all! 😉

Answer those questions:
➡️ What was hard, what have you not managed to achieve? Why did you think it happened?
➡️ What knowledge have you gained because of it?
➡️ What discoveries about yourself will be useful in the future, while reaching other goals?
➡️ What  did your difficulties come from? What helped or what could help next time?

In the end thank yourself for the perseverance and courage 🙏. Thanks to it you try, you make mistakes and learn new things about yourself in order to take another step forward ➡️

Spring time = time to bloom!

This autumn and winter has been tough but spring is finally here and you know what spring means? It is all about blooming, growing and basically starting new life! 🤗

And it’s not only about trees, grass and flowers, no no! Having those couple tough past months behind us we are ready to leave it all behind and bloom! 🤗
:::
I’ve had plenty plans for 2020, I have even more plans for 2021 yet with all that stress and still not being able to find that energy back past-covid I’ve been powerless, lazy and tired all the time lately 😪
:::
But that’s ok! There’s still plenty of 2021 left so we can all still get back to working on our projects, pursue our dreams and reach our goals! 🤗
:::
Spring is here which also means that the day is longer, sun is shining and we get more vitamine D from the Sun so we should be more energetic and more willing to work! 😊
You just have to get up and take that 1st step! 😊

So who’s with me? Who still wants to make 2021 great?
Let’s all grab that brush and paint our lives with energy! 🤗
And to be even more precise I am grabbing my special pen and starting working on my 2nd novel! Finally! 😊

Try seeing the world from other perspective!

You know how it said that you need to change in order to grow? 🤔 You need to change your mindset, your thoughts and sometimes your perspective too! 😉

It is highly possible that when you think about something while being in a different mood you’ll feel different about it 😉. That’s why we say „sleep on it” when we want somebody to make a decision on something. Because it works! You might feel different about some subject the next day 🤗

Same way you might feel different about something in several years 😉. As time passes you become wiser, you gain experience, your character changes so your decisions might change too 😉. Just think about some decisions you’ve made in last couple years. Would you do everything same way now? 🤔 Probably not. That’s why it is always important to think about future and about future you when making some important decision 😀

On another point – try seeing things from other perspective when listening to others’ decisions too! ⚠️ People keep judging somebody’s choices but what might not be good for you might be good for someone else! 😉 When judging others we need to remember that we are all different! ⚠️

I used to get mad when my husband didn’t plan or organize everything precisely 🙄, I used to get angry with my friend that he never remembers anything 😳 etc. It took some  time but finally I learned not to compare others to myself or other way round 😉. If I like being organized and/or have good memory it doesn’t mean that others are the same!
:::
Remember, in order to fully understand something or to make a good decision you need to see something from different perspectives, trying to get a wide spectrum on the subject so as to be objective and to make a wise decision 🤗

Healthy balance

You know what’s one of my main rules in life? Healthy balance about EVERYTHING 😉

We live in crazy times where everybody is in a rush, everybody wants to be the best at something 😬. Some people risk it all to get what they want. Is it worth it though? 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve heard some people say that in order to be successful you need to totally limit your time off and focus on work 😶. That you need to drop Netflix, drop the time with your loved ones and spend every minute of your day self-evolving 😏 That instead of watching a tv show on Netflix in the evening you should focus on broadening your skills, your knowledge and read a book 📖

I understand that in order to succeed you need to work hard and I totally agree with that 👍 I highly encourage everybody to self-evolve, to learn new skills… sure, that too ☝️. But to limit your time off? 😕 To never watch Netflix (apart from the fact that you can always learn something from a tv show/movie/documentary 🙄)? To never have propper leisure time? 😒

There needs to be balance⚖. Not only you NEED TO REST regularly in order to rebuild your energy to work, to get new ideas 🤩, to stay fresh 🙂 but if you work your ass off and never rest you’ll lose your motivation, lose your will to work and it will all become a torture for you and in the end when you succeed it won’t bring you any joy 😏

Another example are people who want to lose weight or muscle up and they work out every day or even twice a day 🙄. That ain’t the way to do it 🚫. Muscles grow on your rest days! You need at least 1 day break from working out a week for the body to recharge and for your muscles to grow.

You should make sure that there’s heathy balance ⚖ in every part of your life:
Between work 💻 & rest 🎬
Between working out 💪& regeneration 🧖‍♀️
Between your career 👩‍💻 & private life 💃
Between the time you’ve got for others 👥 and time you’ve got for yourself 🧘🏼‍♀️
Between physical development 💪 and mental development 🧠
Between caring about what’s important ⚠️ and ignoring what’s not 🚫
Healthy balance is the key, believe me 😉

Do you know that saying „out of sight, out of mind”? 🤔 Turns out that scientific researches prove that wisdom when it comes to fighting temptation and empowering willpower! 💪

Good healthy mindset probably already suggests you that it is easier not to eat sweets when you don’t have them around in the house 😉

Brian Wansink, american psychologist learning about eating behaviour did an interesting research with James E. Painter that he describes in his book „Mindless Eating” 🧐

Gentlemen gave their secretaries chocolates 🍫 on Secretaries week in some office. Some of the sweets were in a box with  a see-through lid where they could see all the chocolates 👀 and some of the sweets were in a normal not see-through box where the content of the box stayed hidden 📦.

What do you think, which chocolates tempted more to be eaten? 😅 Of course those with a see-through lid 🤷🏼‍♀️. Women that could see the chocolates were tempted 71% times more! 😱😳 They were reaching for chocolates 7,7 times a day while those women who had „hidden” chocolates reached for them only 4,6 times a day.

You see? Out of sight out of mind 🤗
So here’s your task for today: get rid of all the temptations in your house 😉. Not only sweets but maybe some stuff that you spend too much time on while you could spend the time working on your dreams like PS games or your Netlix account? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Think about it. You don’t have to throw them away/delete them but you can maybe lend those games to your friend or ask your friend to change your password to your Netflix account 😉

Smiley Future – Step 28

How do you relax? 😉
Today’s last part of „Be good to yourself” series.

Do you remember when we talked about factors that weaken your strong will? 🤔 It was stress and tiredness and lately we’ve been talking a lot about the danger of treating yourself badly and punishing (and getting into a trap of „everything or nothing” thinking” ⚠️).
:::
That’s why sometimes in order to rebuild and strengthen strong will you need rest, regeneration and pleasures that will give you energy and motivation to work 🤗.
:::
Task for today: Make a list of your ways of relax and pleasures. It is important so that they wouldn’t be contradictory to your goal (so e.g. don’t write on your list „eating huge pizza” or „eating chocolate cookies”  when your goal is to eat healthy 😉).
:::
It might be an evening with a good book 📖 or a movie 🎬, talk or meeting with a friend 💬, relaxing bath 🛀, walk around the neighbourhood 🏞, playing with dog 🐶, relaxing yoga session etc. 🧘🏼‍♀️

Self-Love

SELF-LOVE

Alright guys, time for new, and possibly the most important, weekly section in Smiley Society 😉

You know how I divide my week into tasks and asign each day to one of my projects (yes, I love planning and being organized 🙈)? So e.g. every Monday I work on my blog and prepare all posts for the upcoming week, every Tuesday I do research for my 2nd book…etc etc. Thursdays used to be kind of „Others” section when I did some other stuff… Now it’s time to asign a permament thing for Thursdays and this is what my new section is going to be about – SELF-LOVE 🙏❤

That’s right. I decided to plan couple hours of every Thursday to spend, well, with me! 😊 Either reading 📖, doing yoga 🧘🏼‍♀️(I plan to start practicing it), doing some home SPA or anything else that is relaxing. And I advice you to do the same! 😉

We all need that time for ourselves, to get our thoughts together, to feel good in your own skin, to just relax and rest from everybody else.
:::
You need to have some time for the relationship you have with yourself! 🤗 You can’t share love and love others until you love yourself, until you feel good with yourself! 😉 We all need Self-love.
:::
So from now on, every Thursday, I’ll be sharing with you my ideas for those Self-Love days. Either recommending a good book for you to to read 📖, uploading a recipe for some good (but fit! 😉) food (let’s come back to Comfort Food section 🍪) or even showing you how to make some home-made cosmetics for your home natural SPA 🧖‍♀️.

And as for a task for today – pick a day in your week to have those Self-Love days. It doesn’t have to be Thursday like me. It can be during weekend too. Just pick it and mark it in your calendar 📆 for good. It’s not about a whole day, just 2-4h for yourself.

You can do it. You HAVE TO do it. If you think that you don’t have that much time for yourself….well…maybe it’s time to rearrange some things, to rearrange some prorities 😉. After all you’ll have that „me, myself & I” relationship your whole life. You need to make it work. You need to feel good in it. You need to love yourself 🙏❤
